  • JUNIOR TENNIS LESSONS. BOYS AND GIRLS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 5 AND 16 AND BRAINTREE RESIDENTS ONLY CAN REGISTER AT THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT LOCATED AT 85 QUINCY AVENUE ON TUESDAY, JUNE 12th BEGINNING AT 5PM to 6PM. THERE IS NO ON-LINE REGISTRATION..............PROOF OF RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED. CLASSES WILL BE RUN BY CERTIFIED TENNIS PROFESSIONALS FROM THE WEYMOUTH CLUB. MONDAY/WEDNESDAY CLASSES WILL OPERATE FROM 9AM - 12PM. TUESDAY/THURSDAY CLASSES WILL OPERATE FROM 4:30PM - 7:30PM. ALL LESSONS WILL BE STRUCTURED BY BALL TYPE.   • PETERSEN SPLASH PAD AT WATSON PARK. THE SPLASH PAD WILL OPEN ON MEMORIAL DAY, MAY 28TH FROM 12PM TO 5PM. THE SPLASH PAD WILL OPERATE ON A WEEKEND SCHEDULE THROUGH JUNE 26th, 12PM TO 5PM AND RESUME FULL DAILY OPERATION ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27TH, 10AM to 7PM. NON-BRAINTREE RESIDENTS USING THE SPLASH PAD MUST PARK THEIR VEHICLES AT THE SMITH BEACH PARKING LOT LOCATED ON EDGEHILL ROAD AND VINEDALE ROAD. ACCESS TO THE SPLASH PAD VIA THE FRANCIS J. TOLAND WALKWAY CONNECTING SMITH BEACH TO WATSON PARK. GROUPS OF TWELVE OR MORE USING THE SPLASH PAD MUST PROVIDE THE RECREATION OFFICE WITH A MINIMUM OF TEN (10) DAYS ADVANCE NOTICE.   • JUNIOR FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC - Open to students entering grades 1-8. Introduce new players to the game of field hockey or a great opportunity for players with some experience to improve their skills. Players will learn fundamental skills in small groups, drills and games. Join varsity coach Amanda Scully with current and former BHS players to see what field hockey is all about! July 30th through August 2nd, 8:30am - 12:00pm at Braintree High School back turf field. Cost of the clinic is $80. For registration and information, please contact Amanda Scully at scullybfh@gmail.com. All players must wear shin guards, mouth guards and goggles. Some sticks will be available to borrow. Please note if a player requires a stick.
  • BRAINTREE TRACK CLUB - Open to children in grades K-8. The program will operate Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Braintree High School Track, July 3rd - August 2nd from 6pm - 7pm for kindergarten thru 3rd grade and 7pm - 8pm for 4th grade thru 8th grade. Registration is by mail until May 31, 2018 at a cost of $32 per child with a family maximum of $80.00. Children pre-registered by May 31st will be guaranteed to receive a t-shirt to be picked up at Braintree High School on June 28th from 6pm - 7:30pm. Walk-in registration is the same night, June 28th, Rain or Shine, at Braintree High School. Registration this night will incur a $5.00 late fee per child and are not guaranteed a t-shirt.   • SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM - SIX WEEK PROGRAM BEGINNING JUNE 26TH. OUR SUMMERTIME SPECIAL NEEDS DAY ACTIVITY PROGRAM PROVIDES AN ORGANIZED, HEALTHY RECREATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIFIC SPECIAL NEEDS. PROGRAM WILL BE BASED OUT OF MARY E. FLAHERTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND WILL OPERATE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8:30AM TO 2:30PM. NO ON-LINE REGISTRATION FOR THIS PROGRAM. REGISTRATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE RECREATION OFFICE AND MUST BE COMPLETED AND ON FILE AT THE RECREATION OFFICE ON OR BEFORE JUNE 15, 2018.
  • BRAINTREE COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER SUMMER FUN WEEKS - Arts & crafts, hands on projects and activities for children entering grades 3 to 6 at the Braintree Community Arts Center, 1969 Washington Street, Braintree, Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 2:30pm. Cost per child is $160.00 per week. Lunch is not provided, so children are asked to bring their own lunch, snacks and beverages. SFW#1: July 16th - July 19th. SFW#2@: July 23rd - July 26th. SFW#3: July 30th - August 3rd. August 13th - August 17th, 9:00am to 12:00pm: "Adventures in Space with Dave Heshion" for children ages 6 to 11. Space is limited to 25. Learn about flying, both in and out of the Earth's atmosphere. Find out what it is like to live and work in space. Design your own space station, Moon Base or Mars Base. See how rockets work from the ground up by building and launching your own model rocket. Cost per child is $130.00.   • SEE WHAT'S NEW AT THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN 2018:
    • EARLY REGISTRATION - APRIL 3RD:  On-line registration begins at 12:01am on April 3rd for six separate weeks of Kiddo's Clinic, General Sports Clinic and Field Trippers Clinic starting on Tuesday, June 26th (last day of school is Monday, June 25th). Any registration submitted prior to 12:01am on April 3rd will not be accepted. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Field Trippers Clinic and the maximum limit being 45 kids each per week, parents may enroll their child in only one (1) Field Trip Clinic during the April on-line registration period starting April 3rd. Our intention is to involve as many different children as possible in this fun and exciting travel experience. Once the April registration period is completed, parents are welcome to enroll their child in additional Field Trip Clinics based on availability beginning May 7th either at the Recreation Office or on-line at www.braintreerec.com. Program cost for Kiddo's Clinic and General Sports Clinic is $140.00 per week ($112.00 for the week of July 4th holiday). Program cost for Field Trippers Clinic is $195.00 per week ($156.00 for the week of July 4th holiday).   
    • APRIL VACATION WEEK GENERAL SPORTS CLINIC: APRIL 17TH - APRIL 20TH: As a pilot program, the Recreation Department is offering for the first time a General Sports Clinic program at Daughraty Gym during the April school vacation week, April 17th - April 20th. This is open to children ages 6 to 11 (grades 1 through 5). The maximum limit is 60. Cost of the program is $112.00 and includes snacks and beverages during breaks and lunch each day. Please make us aware of any food allergies that your child may have prior to their participation. Parents should plan on dropping their child off in the morning by 9:00am and picking them up by 3:00pm in the afternoon. On-line registration begins at 12:01am on March 26th. Any registration submitted prior to 12:01am on March 26th will not be accepted. Parents can also register their child at the Recreation Office, 85 Quincy Avenue, 9:00am to 4:00pm beginning March 27th. The deadline for registration is April 13th. Payment can be made by credit card (MC/Visa), cash or check payable to the "Town of Braintree".

Provision of recreational programs for all ages including, but not limited to: Summer organized play, summer waterfronts, summer special needs day activities, Sunset Concert Series, Parties In the Park, Independence Day Celebration coordination, Independence Day Celebration Parade coordination, group trips to sporting and cultural events for Braintree families, Learn to Skate Program, Ski/Snowboard Big Blue Program, Slimnastics Program, Judo/JuJitsu Classes, community recreational facility master scheduling, rental and scheduling of Alice Daughraty Gymnasium, youth sports program facilitation.
